Women's Championship Manager of the Month
Liverpool Manager Matt Beard has been awarded The FA Women’s Championship Manager of the Month trophy for January by the LMA Panel.
Matt Beard's Liverpool team extended their winning streak to five Championship games, including three in January against Blackburn Rovers, Watford and Crystal Palace.
Upon receiving the Manager of the Month trophy Beard (above) said: “I’m delighted to accept this award from the LMA, particularly as it recognises the fine start to the year which the team has made on the pitch.
“The players have been working extremely hard, as have the staff and the whole backroom team.
“As everyone knows, anything we achieve is down to a collective effort and so this is an award for the whole playing squad and staff.”
Chair of the League Managers Association panel Marieanne Spacey-Cale MBE added: "Liverpool have started 2022 in exceptional form, with consistent performances, free-scoring attacking play and a solid defence, which kept three clean sheets in January.
"With promotion at stake, Matt has built a strong lead at the top of the table and will look to continue their run into the final nine games."
The LMA panel for the monthly awards involves three highly experienced individuals with specialist knowledge of the women’s game and football management, including Marieanne Spacey-Cale MBE (LMA Member and Southampton FC Head of Girls and Women’s Football/Head Coach), Jen O’Neill (Editor of She Kicks - women's football magazine) and Alan Curbishley (LMA Board Member and LMA Manager of the Year 1999/2000).
